BONQO Mic Check One Two One Two

What is Turntablism?
Some believe it is merely “hip-hop”. Some would be right.
However, it is so much more than that. Turntablism has roots that date back to the 1930’s where composers and musicians sampled various recordings to accompany other composers and musicians.
From there, it was purely experimental. That is, until the 1970’s where, as we know it today, hip-hop came onto the scene.
What was once a subculture of basement party scratching on vinyl and soon break-beat Djing is now a world-wide phenomenon. From a humble start driven by pure creativity to the genre that it has become today, turntablism is a unique part of musical culture and history.
The San Diego Turntable Institution is a well recognized school for those who have never touched a turntable but want to. It is also a great place for local turntablists to sharpen their skills and become even better at what they do.
If you are interested please check out Bonqo.com’s services section. Everyone’s invited to try it out. Who knows, you may be the next Afrika Bambaataa.
